This track is all about contrast - specifically contrast with Sam's own music, and contrast between the beautiful tone of the slide guitar and the grittiness of the accompaniment. For this piece I created a fairly brutal and distorted tape part, using synthesised sounds in Logic and a 1902 cylinder recording of a sermon from the Cylinder Preservation and Digitization Project at University of California, Santa Barbara (with permission, of course!), and made a graphic score to go with it for Sam to work from.
The score of I Want It To Kill People (and the explanation of the title!) is included in the whole-album download package.
